Losing sales at checkout?
- Why do people almost buy and then leave? Because at the moment of decision, doubt outweighs desire. The product convinced them. The story did not. Most brands cast themselves as the hero and leave the customer as the…
- Should I fix my store's conversion or spend more on ads? Run the math on traffic you already paid for. If 98 of 100 visitors leave without buying, more ads rent more visitors for the same leak. Fixing conversion raises the…
- Why do mobile shoppers abandon more than desktop shoppers? Because mobile raises doubt and lowers patience at the same time. One thumb, a small screen, interruptions every few seconds. Forms cost more effort, errors cost more recovery, and trust…
- Why do mobile forms kill conversions? Because every field is a toll, and mobile doubles the price. Typing on glass is slow, error-prone, and each mistake costs a re-tap into a tiny box. Forms designed on…
- Will AI shopping agents kill my store's conversion? Not kill. Reroute. AI agents already comparison-shop, fill carts, and complete checkouts, and the buyers behind them still decide who earns the sale. Two funnels now matter: humans who need…
- Why don't shoppers trust a store they've never heard of? Because the default answer to an unknown store is no. A stranger asking for card details triggers every alarm evolution installed. Trust is not persuaded in one move. It is…
Building an app or AI product?
- Why hire a designer when AI can generate the screens? Because the screens were never the hard part. AI generates layouts in seconds. I use it every day. What it cannot generate is judgment. Which of 20 directions survives real…
- How do you actually use AI in the design process? AI runs inside every phase of my process, from research to shipped code. Claude for synthesis and reasoning, Cursor and the terminal for builds, Figma for design, FullStory for behaviour…
- Why do AI apps lose subscribers faster than normal apps? Because the wow moment is not a habit. RevenueCat's 2026 data puts AI app annual retention at 21.1%, against 30.7% for everything else. The demo converts, then daily life asks…
- Why does one wrong AI answer break trust in my product? Because trust in software is asymmetric. Ten right answers build it slowly. One confident wrong answer spends it all at once. Loss aversion runs the math: a wrong answer is…
- Why do users stop using AI features after the first week? Because the first week runs on novelty, and novelty is not a job. The demo moment amazes, then the blank prompt box starts asking the user to work. A feature…
- Where should the primary button sit on a mobile screen? In the bottom third of the screen, inside the thumb's natural arc. About half of people use a phone one-handed, and the thumb sweeps a curve from the bottom corner.…
- What makes users open an app a second time? An unfinished reason to return. The first open runs on curiosity. The second runs on whatever the first one left behind: a result worth checking, progress that would be wasted,…
- How do I design onboarding users don't skip? By making it the product, not a lesson about the product. Users skip tours because tours delay the thing they came for. Let the first task teach. Ask for each…
- Should I build an app or a mobile website first? Start where your users already are: the browser. A mobile website earns strangers, an app serves believers. Websites are found by search, opened from links, tried without commitment. An app…
- What makes a mobile app feel premium? Restraint, response, and rhythm. Premium is not decoration. It is an interface that answers every touch instantly, moves with one consistent rhythm, and asks for nothing it does not need.…
- Why do push notifications make users delete apps? Because permission is borrowed, not owned. A notification interrupts someone's day, and the interruption is judged in a second: is this for me or for them. Marketing dressed as urgency…
- How do ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Google read a product site? They read the words people can see. Google crawls, renders and ranks, and uses structured data for rich results. AI assistants like ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity fetch the page text…
Working with me
- How do I justify hiring one designer instead of an agency? Count the layers between you and the person designing. An agency quote pays for account managers, project managers, and a discovery phase before a screen exists. A specialist starts the…
- What is mobile UX psychology? Mobile UX psychology is designing around how people actually decide on a phone: one thumb, partial attention, high doubt. It applies behavioural mechanisms, anchoring, defaults, loss aversion, friction, to the…
- What if nothing improves after the pilot week? Then we both know in a week, and that is the point of a pilot. The price is fixed at $3,000, so the downside is capped before we start. Every…
