Why hire a senior when AI can build the tool?

Surinder Thakur, AI Product Designer

The short answer

Because building was never the hard part. AI can write the code and draw the screens in hours. I use it every day. What it cannot do is make people use the result. Will the team trust it with real work? Will it fit their week? You hire a senior for those decisions.

What AI ships fast

  • The screens exist
  • The flow runs
  • The agent calls the API

What gets it used

  • The team trusts it with real work
  • It fits the week they already have
  • A person decides where it matters
AI ships the tool fast. The decisions around it get it used.

What does AI already do well?

The building. Can the screen exist, can the flow run, can the agent call the API. Tools are good at this now.

So every team has the same tools, and their outputs look alike. A working tool is now the starting line.

What does it leave undone?

The using. Will a finance lead trust the agent with a payment. Will the team open the tool on a busy Tuesday. Will they pick it over the spreadsheet they know.

That is behaviour, and code does not answer it. It took me 19 years to read it properly.

How do you test an AI-built tool?

Ask why. Why this step comes first. Why a person approves here and not there. Why these 3 features and not the other 12.

A generator has no answer. A senior has a reason for every decision, and the reasons are what you pay for.

This is not an argument against AI.

I build with it daily and ship AI products of my own. ProUX is one, live today.

The tools made me faster. They did not make the decisions. Those still cost experience, and experience is what you hire.
